Under the Umbrella is a queer little bookstore on Ute, Goshute, Shoshone, and Paiute land (Salt Lake City, Utah), sharing and celebrating queer books written by queer authors and offering a safe, sober, and accessible space for 2SLGBTQIA+ people to gather.
Tuesday-Friday: noon-8 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday: 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Staff Picks
Under the Umbrella is on Ute, Goshute, Paiute, and Shoshone land. Acknowledging and honoring the traditional stewards of this land is important, but supporting the Indigenous communities whose lands have been stolen and colonized requires more than land acknowledgement. Each month, 5% of sales from Kaitlyn's "Staff Picks" will be donated to the Carry the Water Garden, an Indigenous healing garden in Salt Lake City. We encourage our white customers to support this and other Indigenous-led organizations here and around the so-called United States. Community Curated Shelf
In honor of International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) on March 31st, Project Rainbow curated this shelf full of trans authors, many of them local! Head to Project Rainbow to purchase a trans flag for your yard this TDOV by March 16th! 5% of sales from the shelf will go to the Nuanua Collective.
Project Rainbow is a local, trans led non-profit that empowers and uplifts LGBTQ+ individuals throughout Utah by fostering visibility, promoting inclusivity, and providing crucial support through our Community Fund. Nuanua Collective is a community collective for LGBTQ+ Pacific Islanders & QTBIPOC. Nuanua means "Rainbow” in Sāmoan.

Transit & Parking
There is free two-hour parking along 200 South and 500 West near the store. Parking enforcement regularly patrols the area, so please plan accordingly. There is a small, free visitor parking lot behind the store, accessible from 500 West. There are two accessible parking spots behind the store, as well.
We are located just south of the Old GreekTown TRAX Station on the Blue Line (this is the very western edge of the free fare zone). We are also around the corner from the Salt Lake Central Station on 600 West.
There is a green bike station immediately east of our front doors and a public bike rack to the west of our front doors.
